Goals1. Encourage Jewish young adults to explore their personal Jewish identity through art.
2. Engage Jewish young adults to practice Jewish values of social justice and community service through the mural process. 3. Connect Jewish young adults with under-served communities in their neighborhood as a means of breaking down barriers and empowering both groups. 4. Contribute to the development of Jewish young adults into future Jewish leaders who prioritize acts of community philanthropy. 5. Increase access to art in underserved communities to inspire health and resiliency, build self-esteem, and empower neighborhoods. The VisionJewish young adults will have a new outlet in which to engage in community service through creative art-making via the mural process. They will have the opportunity to explore their personal Jewish identity, to practice Jewish values of social justice and community service through the expressive arts, to connect with under-served communities in their neighborhood as a means of empowering and giving voice to those who may not think they have one, and to develop into future Jewish leaders who prioritize acts of community philanthropy. As participants witness the benefits of engaging in art making activities on a personal level, they will, in turn, recognize the added value of engaging with each other and with others who do not have access to art programming otherwise.
In addition, under-served communities will gain access to creative arts programming, develop self-esteem as they recognize hidden talents, and feel empowered as they become active members of their community who realize they can make a positive difference in their neighborhoods. |
